If you would have told me five years ago that I would one day lust over a laundry room, I would have thought you were absolutely insane. Now that we do one load per day for our sweet little one in our small laundry room, I get it. In our next house (or home addition… fingers crossed on this one!), I want a big laundry room with plenty of folding, hanging, storing and washing space. I’ve been saving lots of images of all white kitchens, then saw a gorgeous dark wood room and was almost swayed. I’m sharing my inspiration below! Which is your favorite? Do you dream of spacious, well organized laundry rooms too?

Ideal laundry room requirements:

  • Big, white farmhouse sink
  • Plenty of natural light
  • Large, interesting light fixtures
  • Lots of cabinets and shelving
  • Racks to hang clothing
  • Double washer and dryer (hey, a girl can dream!)
  • Subway white tiles for the floor or backsplash
  • Constant supply of gorgeous flowers or greenery
  • Comfortable seating (love the thought of a dual purposed room with desk space)

So pretty! My dream laundry room also includes an exterior door to the back yard with a good location for our dog’s kennel and some kind of a washing area for her (no walking in living/kitchen/carpet areas when she is dirty). I’ve always thought a laundry/mudroom combo would be great, the desk/office space would be pretty cool, too!

Ah, yes. I love this idea. We definitely need to have a place where Belle can get cleaned before bounding into our kitchen with white floor tiles (also something I’m dying to redo). I want to see your home! I bet it is amazing.

  2. I probably like the first photo the best because you can lounge in the couch and read or work on your computer (to blog or check your emails) while doing the laundry. 😀

Amen! That is exactly right. I totally do laundry while blogging and would love to be as close as possible to exchange loads. xo

  3. 2 washers + 2 dryers in that last photo? I wonder how many kids the people have!! Our laundry room is tiny. I really wish we had done full-size stackable and put some shelves on the side. Oh well!! These are all great.

Seriously! A ton! Or they just leave it until there are piles and piles and want to get it done quickly (i.e. they have a lot of money). I wish we had done stackables too. You live and you learn! House #2 (or renovations!). xo

I have less mobility than I did when I was younger. I would love to hire a laundry service to have my dirty wash sent out to and have them take care of for me. That sounds like such an archaic process nowadays. However, I hope I can still find this sort of laundry service.
