I made a sneaky little announcement two weeks ago that ClassPass was making its way to Houston. Well, this week, it launched… and I’m very excited. While I’m a new member at LifeTime Fitness and love it so far, one thing I am not too pleased with is their classes (except STRIKE!). The main reason I joined LifeTime is to have on-site daycare for Isla, which is a godsend. However, I went to DEFINE for morning spin classes until I was 39 weeks pregnant with Isla, and I miss going to independent studio classes.

That’s when ClassPass enters the picture.

With ClassPass you get unlimited monthly classes at the best boutique fitness studios in Houston like Pure Barre, Yoga West, Studio Fitness, The Bar Method and Joy Yoga Center. You can see them all mapped here.

I am definitely going to try classes at Joy Yoga on Voss, which is near our house, as I’ve wanted to go for ages now. My little sister and best friend are in love with classes at Big Yoga on Waugh, where my older sister’s friend instructs, so I’ll be heading there too. I am pretty excited to venture to various studios across the city to dabble in their classes.

I also noticed that there are three participating studios in Katy, and a number in other suburbs, which is perfect for someone who commutes into the city – they can workout near their home or by their office.

So let’s cover some basics.

How many classes do you get for $79 a month (price varies in other cities)? As many as you want. You can go to any one studio up to 3 times per month.

What types of classes are available? Spinning. Barre. Pilates. Yoga. Interval training. Bootcamp. You can choose from hundreds of classes available to fit your schedule, location and interests. I want to try some barre classes, as I’ve never done one before (I am terribly uncoordinated, so it will probably be quite humorous).

Is it difficult to sign up? Nope. Let’s review. First, register or sign in.

If you don’t live in Houston, don’t fret. ClassPass is located in ClassPass is now located in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Boston, Washington, DC, Seattle, Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Columbus, DFW, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, and San Diego.

In case you missed it, I made a gift guide for all sports/fitness lovers. It’s never too late to buy someone a gift (or buy yourself one, if you didn’t get what you wanted!).

I will be guest-posting on the ClassPass blog in January, so make sure to follow along (I’ll make an announcement here too). Lastly, I’m excited for another fitness post that I’ve got in the works. I’ll be sharing it in the New Year!

Isn’t it amazing? AND Isla loves it there. Which makes leaving her much easier. Is Charlotte getting used to being dropped off yet?

I’ll let you know! She will be 3 months this weekend which is their min. age. Just to have 1-2 hours to workout and shower and put makeup on sounds amazing…..

Also, I’ve yet to have anyone except family members watch Charlotte for me! Scary

  3. Ohh, I need to try this!!! I love yoga but never make it to a studio to take classes!

You totally should. And I should too. It should also be a resolution of mine!

  4. Wow, this is a great idea. I am surprised by just how many places are particitpating in it, which is awesome. I have been going to the Y downtown for years and love it, but do like trying other places and new classes. I used to go regularly to Joy Yoga on Washington several years ago and really loved the classes there too. I always hear great things about Big Yoga and plan to try it soon. FYI, you don’t have to be too coordinated for barre, every barre class I’ve attended has been so different depending on the instructor and I am not coordinated either.

I think it’s a great idea too! And yes, the participating studio list is huge!!! My sister and friend love Big Yoga. And that is good to know re: barre! Because I am certainly the least coordinated person ever haha.
