healthyI’ve been a vegetarian since 6th grade, and I’ve been cooking my own meals for many of the last 16 years. I would have to use the word ‘cook’ very loosely, as I started off my veggie years by microwaving a couple of black bean burgers for dinner. Over time, I started to look for more exciting recipes to ‘change it up,’ as there are so many meals you can eat, you just need a little inspiration from time to time. I have a number of amazing recipe and cookbooks (some shared below), and have used the internet to find a number of recipes that we use regularly, including The Forest Feast and Oh She Glows.

Not only do I peruse food blogs for main courses, but I also use a number of sites to find healthy vegan desserts. As I’ve mentioned before, my friend Mara of Hook, Thread and Tinker bought me Rawsome Vegan Baking for Christmas, and I’ve tried almost 70% of the recipes so far. It is amazing. McKenzie recently bought me Deliciously Ella‘s new cookbook, which I’m so excited to dig into. Her website is amazing, and I’ve already tried and fallen in love with her Banana, Pumpkin Seed and Almond Granola Bars.

Today I’m sharing my favorite 6 websites for healthy recipes: The Forest Feast, Naturally Ella, Minimal Baker, Oh She Glows, Deliciously Ella and This Rawsome Vegan Life. Do you have other sites that you reference for recipes? Please share!

The Forest Feast: My good friend, Brittany, recently bought me The Forest Feast cookbook for my birthday, and after oogling over it for ages, I’m so excited to own a copy. I love Erin’s website, filled with delicious recipes with categories like food, drinks, entertaining and traveling. Check out the website and buy a copy of the book!

Naturally Ella: I love Erin’s blog, which contains seasonal vegetarian recipes that are ‘pantry-inspired.’ Her recipes are really simple and fresh and absolutely delicious. I like to think of our family as eating ‘pantry-inspired’ meals, as I normally just open the pantry and fridge doors, stare for a minute or two, then declare what we’re having for dinner based on what I see inside. You can always whip something delicious up out of a very small number of (random) ingredients!

Minimalist Baker: I am obsessed with Minimalist Baker recipes, but also their incredible food styling. Food photography is so interesting to me, and I am one of those people who could follow 500 food Instagram accounts because I love staring at the pictures so much. John and Dana share some of my favorite recipes ever (everything I’ve tried is amazing), and most of them are vegetarian or vegan. You should definitely read their ideologies here, and try everything they make here.

sheglows4Oh She Glows: Angela creates simple, healthy meals and takes insanely beautiful photos of them. This site is definitely at the top of the list, as everything she makes can be re-created by all individuals – not just fancy chefs. Her Crispy Quinoa Cakes are seriously to die for! I recommend you peruse this site and bookmark away!

Favorite recipe: Crispy Quinoa Cakes and Raw Almond Butter Cups

deliciouslyellaDeliciously Ella: Ella has become sort of a pop culture health food icon recently, with the sales of her new cookbook sky rocketing. I know someone has made it big when my mum keeps talking about her! She made me these Banana, Pumpkin Seed and Almond Granola Bars for my birthday, and I am seriously obsessed. They definitely taste healthy, but that’s probably why I love them. Everything I’ve tried so far has been a huge success. Even her story is inspiring!

rawsomeThis Rawsome Vegan Life: Ah ha, back to the cookbook that has caused me to gain 10 pounds. As I mentioned earlier, Mara bought me Emily’s cookbook, and I have never found a book before with so many recipes that I was dying to try. Everything has been a crowd pleaser, even with the heavy carnivores! Go to the website now and click around. And then get to ‘baking,’ of course.

  4. Ahhhhh this looks AMAZING. I am obsessed with watermelon radishes and that salad looks soooo beautiful! There is a place called Lemonade here in LA that makes a killer watermelon radish salad dish. My stepdad has been a veggie for about 45 years now and the rest of our family rarely eats meat so I am totally going to be referring back to this post and the links you shared! I love healthy, nourishing and beautiful food. Thanks for the info mama!
