Today’s gift guide is near and dear to my heart, mainly because a) I love reading and b) I am basically just sharing all of my favorite books with you. I’ve broken my top recommendations into categories, so that you can help distinguish which book to buy for your book-loving family member or friend. I thought about writing a little synopsis of each book, but figured you’d probably read that on Amazon (where all of the books are linked to). My favorite thing to do is buy ‘excellent’ quality used hardback books, as they’re way, way cheaper and there’s something nice about a book that’s been handed along, right?

Without further ado, my book gift guide recommendations are as follows:

For the history lovers: The Paris Wife by Paula McLain, Rules of Civility by Amor Towles, The Chaperone by Liane Moriarty, and The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald

For the thrill seekers: The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

For all book lovers: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, We are Called to Rise by Laura McBride, Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok, and Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn

For the detective types: Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple, Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith, The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith, Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, and Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty

For the humorists: Bossypants by Tina Fey and 99 Problems but a Baby Ain’t One by Megan Silianoff

For dog lovers: The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

For Christ followers: Love Does by Bob Goff, A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers, Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore and Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

I absolutely love reading books that my friends or family feel passionate about. This year, I’ve asked for the following books for Christmas: Today Will Be Different by Maria SempleWhat Alice Forgot by Liane MoriartyAll the Light We Cannot See by Anthony DoerrBehind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris and Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty. If you have any other recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
