Cake & Confetti’s 2nd Birthday Party

Cake and Confetti (1 of 1)-39A few months ago, Meredith invited a handful of her friends over to celebrate Cake & Confetti’s second birthday with a garden dinner party that she was hosting at in her back yard. Y’all, it was the most perfect party I have ever attended – hands down. Not only did Meredith decorate everything to the nines, she did the florals herself and made a delicious four course meal (all healthy and vegetarian, so basically a dream come true). Plus, she hand-dyed that backdrop, which may be my favorite detail!

The party was featured on Best Friends for Frosting yesterday here (also posted on their Instagram here). Check out the post and read Meredith’s description of the party. I’m so proud of her, and I cannot wait to see the exciting things that Cake & Confetti has in store in the future.

Cake & Confetti Turns Two

Photo (1 of 1)-27Last night, I attended the world’s most perfect dinner party. Like flawless flowers, lust-worthy flatware, delicious food, tasty cocktails. Meredith, the owner of Cake & Confetti, knows how to throw a party. It is her job after all, and she knows what she’s doing. A group of her friends and fellow creatives got together at her house to celebrate two years of her being in business (did you read her #GIRLBOSS interview here?).

I had the honor of photographing the dinner, and of course, I immediately edited them upon getting home at 10:30pm (yup, I’m crazy too). I’m bursting at the seams to show the photos, but I can’t for now. I am able to share some of the photos we took a month ago to use as a follow-up to the big dinner party. Meredith’s creativity is endless. I love the 2 sparkler in the macaroons (although she did get slightly burned by the sparks!).

Get Crafty Workshop: Floral Crowns

Get Crafty Workshop (1 of 1)On Saturday afternoon, I headed to the owner of Baanou’s gorgeous (like jaw-droppingly perfect) house for a floral crown workshop, led by my friend, Meredith of Cake & Confetti (her #GIRLBOSS interview here). I’ve ordered three silk floral crowns now (all for Isla!), and I decided that I needed to learn how to make them myself, instead of continuing to buy them! Meredith had picked out the most elegant (and real-looking!) silk blooms, and we sat down with bubbly in hand and learned how to pick, place and secure the flowers around the wire. After two hours, there were 15 gorgeous crowns being adorned by an even more beautiful group of ladies.

I loved learning how to create these crowns (and not-so-secretly want to wear mine everywhere I go!). A tiny floral crown would be the best gift for a baby girl (umm, friends expecting babies, duly warned!) – and the larger ones would be perfect for a friend’s bridal shower or bachelorette party!

In addition to nibbing on sweet treats and cheese and sipping champagne, the workshop attendees were able to shop the Baanou’s racks – which were filled with the trendiest clothing ever, and I was slightly dying inside that Sasha has put me on a spending freeze for the rest of the month post-Isla’s birthday party (whoops!). The store is currently working by appointment only, and if you live in the Houston area, I highly recommend you call to make one asap (713.505.1347).   Get Crafty Workshop (1 of 1)-22

Isla’s Confetti-Filled First Birthday Party

First Birthday Confetti Theme Party Kids Houston Bright Colorful Modern Creative IdeasWe celebrated Isla’s first birthday on Saturday with a confetti-filled party at our house. I originally had another theme in mind, but when I saw this Stella McCartney Bell Party Dress on Instagram, I knew I had to change my plans. I immediately contacted Papellerie, the creative team behind our wedding stationery (see photos here), to see what sort of fun invitation they could think up. Needless to say, I am obsessed with how they turned out. Riley (our designer) did such an incredible job making my visions come to life. She is incredibly talented. We had custom confetti from The Confetti Bar inside each invitation – with little Isla confetti made by Meredith of Cake & Confetti. I love them!

The party went without a hitch, which I was so grateful for. We packed over 60 adults and 20 kids into our little one-story house and into the backyard (my prayers for sunshine worked!). Sasha and I were both on cloud nine after the party – there is no greater feeling than seeing all of our closest family and friends in one place!

A lot of work went into this party, and I want to say a special thanks to Meredith (mentioned above). She spent oodles of hours making a balloon arch, flowers, bubbles, confetti, signs, etc. and helping me set up on the Friday before. She is a force to be reckoned with, and I suggest that anyone in Houston who is planning a party contact her! Also, thank you to Riley for the invitations. You are amazing. Thank you to Leah Burke of The Monogram Shop, who met with me to brainstorm creative customization options for the party. We ordered our adorable frosted cups and beer koozies (both which were big hits!) from them, and I recommend anyone in the Houston-area stop by when planning a party. Last, but not least, thank you to my mom, who made both of the confetti cakes and also sewed the purple runner on our dining table in a matter of minutes on the Friday before the party. She puts Martha to shame!

I finally finished putting away all of the leftover confetti, favors, honeycomb balls, etc. yesterday, and I’m sad to see all of the bright colors leave our house. I wish that balloon arch was a permanent fixture around here! I already have Isla’s 2nd birthday party theme in my mind (yup, I’m insane!). Time to get pinning! xo
