ClassPass in Houston

unnamed (1)

I made a sneaky little announcement two weeks ago that ClassPass was making its way to Houston. Well, this week, it launched… and I’m very excited. While I’m a new member at LifeTime Fitness and love it so far, one thing I am not too pleased with is their classes (except STRIKE!). The main reason I joined LifeTime is to have on-site daycare for Isla, which is a godsend. However, I went to DEFINE for morning spin classes until I was 39 weeks pregnant with Isla, and I miss going to independent studio classes.

That’s when ClassPass enters the picture.

With ClassPass you get unlimited monthly classes at the best boutique fitness studios in Houston like Pure Barre, Yoga West, Studio Fitness, The Bar Method and Joy Yoga Center. You can see them all mapped here.

I am definitely going to try classes at Joy Yoga on Voss, which is near our house, as I’ve wanted to go for ages now. My little sister and best friend are in love with classes at Big Yoga on Waugh, where my older sister’s friend instructs, so I’ll be heading there too. I am pretty excited to venture to various studios across the city to dabble in their classes.

Gift Guide for the Athlete

After two gift guides for the men (Gadget Guy and Outdoorsman), two for the ladies (Hostess and Girly Girl) and one for the little ones (Baby’s First Christmas), I have created a unisex present guide – for the athletes. I am drooling over some of these gifts, most especially the Tory Burch Fitbit Flex bracelet. It is perfect.

Work It Out

I genuinely believe that feeling good (i.e. stylish) in your workout clothes is one of the best inspirations to get yourself to the gym. I used to care a lot less about my exercise style, but have recently change my tone. My sister-in-law is a Lululemon fanatic – she owns everything from the store and has been amazing and gifted me lots of workout goodies. I recently purchased these Nike Lunarglide 6 Running Shoes and feel just as excited about them as a new pair of heels. They are amazing. If you’re in the market for a new pair of running kicks, I highly recommend these.

As soon as we’re back in Houston, I’m giving up my 24 Hour Fitness membership to get one to Life Time Fitness. One of my good friends has a membership there, and I’m excited about all of the classes we’re going to do together (and they have great daycare! Hooray!). I’ve put together some bright yellow inspired workout outfits for my three favorite activities – running, spin and yoga.

Do you enjoy buying workout clothing? What are your favorite running shoes?

Lastly, the winner of the BabyLit giveaway is Fiona! Congratulations!

Cultural Bali in Ubud

On one of the last days of the trip, we took a day tour with Panji from Bali Safest Driver (I highly recommend him!) to a city in the central part of Bali called Ubud. Our newlywed friends, Julianne and Cody, joined us, which we really enjoyed. Ubud is rich in culture and very hippie – we met lots of intense yoga lovers while strolling through the streets. We went to the Monkey Forest and were greeted by hundreds of monkeys, which Julianne, Cody and Sasha all held on their hand, while one decided to lay flat on my head. Afterwards, we went to the Para Saraswati Temple, then to the Don Antonio Blanco Museum. Blanco was a very talented painter, but his art is very, very sexual. We got a good laugh at some of the intense descriptions at the museum. We ate the most amazing lunch at Melting Wok Warung – our second favorite meal of the trip. We went walking through the nearby markets afterward, then headed to a more upscale shopping street afterward. Exhausted after a long, hot day, we got back in the car and went to Seminyak for dinner. We ate appetizers at Chandi (our favorite restaurant where we’d eaten the night before), then ate our meal at The Bistrot. This restaurant is gorgeous – we all commented on how it would thrive in NYC or Houston (where we were both from!). I highly recommend it. Afterwards, we went back to the Conrad and subsequently all fell asleep immediately. One of my favorite days from the honeymoon!
