What an amazing first day in Istanbul. So many wonderful bucket list places checked off: Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cisterns, the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and Gulhane Park. We drank lots of Turkish wine and coffee, ate local foods (amazing cheese!), and walked until our feet were killing us. We’ve got a boat tour of the Bosphorus and the Grand Bazaar, so expect many more pictures. Instagram photos first…

After some of the most stressful travel hours of my life (an experience in Manila tops the list), I’m finally in Istanbul – and from what I’ve seen so far, I love. Due to Expedia’s incompetency, Sasha was not able to get on his flight in Accra, Ghana, so he is not here yet. He’ll arrive bright and early (after booking another flight). Tomorrow’s itinerary (yes, it’s printed) is jam packed. I’ll be posting pictures regularly.

I haven’t gotten on Style Me Pretty in ages, which is weird, as I used to scour it all of the time. When I did get on recently, I spotted this gorgeous soft-summer color palette-d, Southern wedding. I want to stare at these pictures all day long!
The entrance of a house is one of the most important areas, as it sets the precedent for the rest of your home. Our entry opens up to the living and formal dining area, so I want to make sure it’s welcoming and not cluttered. There are high ceilings and lots of natural lighting (one of my favorite things about the house!) – see picture below. Sasha and I have been scouring Houzz for the perfect entry setup. I am leaning towards a gorgeous, bright rug, a long wooden table with two simple Restoration Hardware chairs on either side, and (in my dreams) a Claire Desjardin painting hanging above.
