Oh my sweet goodness gracious. I went to a Texans game with one of my best friends, Sophee, her boyfriend, Johnny, and Sasha this weekend, and she shared a link to Meghan and Alex’s official wedding pictures (mine here). I am dying. This wedding… I mean, really? Could you find two more attractive people in this world (or someone who looks more like Hugh Jackman…)?
Hold the Eggs, Please
Probably the one wedding detail I care least about is the cake. I don’t eat eggs and try to make my food choices as healthy as possible. To make things more complicated, my sister’s boyfriend has Celiac disease, so I need to take gluten allergies into consideration as well. Given that cakes are pretty much a wedding staple, I’ve been noodling. My solution is a color coded cupcake cake: white icing= regular cupcakes, pink icing= vegan cupcakes, and green icing = gluten free cupcakes. Stacked high, they double as an almost perfect cake replica. I even found Fat Bottom Bakery in San Francisco, which makes vegan cupcakes – don’t they look splendid?
My New Sherbet Shift
Sasha and I are having our engagement pictures taken by the phenomenally talented Taylor Lord in a matter of weeks, and my brain is constantly flickering between house design/wedding planning/engagement shoot outfits. I went to CityCentre on Friday to get some inspiration, and left with a striped, sherbet dress I’ve been lusting at since Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam wore it in her honeymoon pics. It’s now on sale, so it was clearly meant to be. Sasha will wear something in a similar color palette for the pictures with this shift. One outfit down, four to go!
My Dream Bathroom
Yesterday, one of my best friends, Kirby, introduced Sasha and I to www.Houzz.com. It’s basically Pinterest, but only for interior design, and you can buy many of the items in the pictures online. It’s amazing. Sasha and I were both freaking out and naturally had to plan date night around a trip to The Manor and Home Depot. He had sent me a laundry list (literally 60 things) that we need to do to remodel and decorate the house, and I’m going to rely heavily on Houzz to do this. First things first: the bathrooms. I looked through a million, and found my one in the picture below.
We’re going to do the bathroom exactly like this (same colors, knobs, lighting, etc.), with the exception of the tile floor. One room at a time! That’s all I can do to stay sane!
Wedding Party Invitations
What a week! My parents are in South Africa right now, so the initial planning has been limited – although I have emailed a million venues, been in contact with my photographer, planner, etc. First things first though – the wedding party! I finally got around to emailing Emily of SparrowNestScript on Etsy. I’ve asked her to make the invitations for the wedding party. Her cards are amazing, and I want something clean and simple (and kraft paper, obvi). Examples below:
