The Menil Collection

Sunny, with a chance of rain.

That was the forecast for Saturday, and for once, the meteorologists weren’t far off. Although the weather was intermittently cloudy, our girls lunch at Canopy was still perfect (order the Baby Spinach salad without the meat and the Blooming Fizz to drink!). Afterward, we headed to Black Hole for a cup of heavenly coffee before heading to The Menil Collection, which is so close to our humble abode, yet I’ve never been (gasp, I know). The building was beautiful, the trees outside couldn’t be more picturesque, and the paintings inside were, well, maybe not my thing – except for a few standouts. I got to see Rene Magritte’s The Treachery of Images (aka “Ceci n’est pas une pipe”). That was pretty cool. Took me back to my AP Art History class days… Oh, boy.

Shockingly, I didn’t climb a tree {something I try to do as many places as possible}. But I did get on the swing.

A Crystal Chandelier in the Woods

A fancy chandelier hanging from the ceiling in a formal hotel ballroom? Totally not my thing. An elegant crystal chandelier draped from a large oak in a backyard celebration? Totally obsessed. I love a little retro feel to the chandelier setting. The fourth picture is my favorite. Isn’t that setting to die for?

UT MBA Reception

I am back in Houston “permanently” (fingers crossed). On my first night back, Sasha and I headed to Hotel ZaZa for the UT MBA Reception. We asked McK to snap a few pictures before we headed out, as the weather was glorious (strange for Houston in August). I was equally excited about getting to wear my new Joie Eleanor blouse. It feels like heaven. They would go perfectly with these Stuart Weitzman patent heels.

So proud of my Longhorn!
