Spring into Fall

The transition from summer to fall has begun in the fashion world, whether or not the weather in Texas reflects any seasonal change at all. For some cities, fall means bundling up in heavy coats, but in Houston, it translates into more muted (think less J.Crew neon) colors with little pops of color. I love the outfit below – the classic J. Crew anchor, the beautiful Kate Spade yellow jewelry, and of course, my favorite Tory Burch Beverly pumps.

Perfect for a fall frolic!1) Kate Spade ring, 2) J. Crew top, 3) Kate Spade necklace, 4) Amazing Chanel Shopping Bag purse, 5) Tory Burch bracelet, 6) Tory Burch pumps, 7) J. Crew skirt

Why Not?

I love Style Me Pretty – it’s a great website with a wide variety of real weddings being featured. There are backyard tent weddings, sandy beach weddings, hotel courtyard wedding, and then there’s… garage rooftop weddings? I thought I was reading the title of the post wrong, then saw that the pictures were actually on top of a garage in Austin. My interest was piqued.

I clicked through all of the beautiful pictures (taken by the talented Geoff Duncan), and am truly mesmerized. And strangely enough, I used to do competitive cheerleading with one of the bridesmaids in high school. And then there’s the singer. Yeah, that’s right: Jason Castro. Awesome. There’s a chance I even spotted Jimmy McNeal from the Austin Stone. What a cool couple.

Who doesn’t leave on a bike? Love it.

Hey oh, Jason.

Draping your Jewels

When I moved into Apt. 335, I knew I wanted a unique way to hang my jewelry (instead of my typical over-the-door hanger). I went to Anthro, bought some fun, mismatched door handles, went to Home Depot, got them to cut me a piece of wood, bought myself some paint, and went to town. Okay, so Sasha ended up having to help with the drilling, but still! The final product is below 🙂 In hindsight, I would have preferred a piece of salvaged wood, but that can be done next time. I think my favorite jewelry holder is the first picture below! I want to recreate that whole setup for my first house.

P.S. How awesome is that clipboard jewelry display? Obsessed.

Wanderlust

“Not all those who wander are lost.” – JRR Tolkien

This quote reminds me of my best friend. And, of course, wanderlust – the strong, innate desire to wander or roam around. I’m full of it, which is why I find myself spending all of my money on plane tickets, hotels, walking tours, etc. It’s fun. It’s exciting. It’s what drives me. The world really is our oyster, and there are so many amazing places to go.

I recently stumbled upon Wolpy.com, which tracks your travels on a map. It’s amazing. It makes you realize how big the world is and how little you’ve (or I’ve) seen. I cannot wait to add new red dots to my map (in December!).

Here are some snapshots of my favorite (non-Continental U.S.) places in the world…
