Draping your Jewels

When I moved into Apt. 335, I knew I wanted a unique way to hang my jewelry (instead of my typical over-the-door hanger). I went to Anthro, bought some fun, mismatched door handles, went to Home Depot, got them to cut me a piece of wood, bought myself some paint, and went to town. Okay, so Sasha ended up having to help with the drilling, but still! The final product is below 🙂 In hindsight, I would have preferred a piece of salvaged wood, but that can be done next time. I think my favorite jewelry holder is the first picture below! I want to recreate that whole setup for my first house.

P.S. How awesome is that clipboard jewelry display? Obsessed.

Simple Shelf

I was browsing on the Anthropologie website when I found a painting by Claire Desjardins that I adore. It’s titled ‘Restless,’ and while I’m not normally a big abstract art person, I love the colors and asymmetry in this piece. It’s only a hot $3,000, so I may need to start saving. Pair it with an Anthro vase and Restoration Hardware shelf, and you’ve got yourself a very simple, beautiful shelf.

Happy Birthday, America!

July 4, 2012 will be my first Independence Day as an American citizen! So naturally, Sasha and I decided to throw a pool party. I’m so excited to spend quality time with our family and friends on this national holiday. Expect lots of poolside pics to come on July 5. I’ve been dreaming in red, white and blue the past few days, so wanted to share some of my favorite findings. Are you ready for some fireworks?

Up, Up, & Away!

Another little confession of mine: I’m 100 percent, truly-madly-deeply in love with hot air balloons, yet I’ve never ridden in one. Why? I don’t actually know. There is something so fairy-tale about drifting into the sky in a big basket being carried upward by a pretty balloon. In fact, one of my favorite blouses is a hot air balloon shirt from Anthropologie – I wore it with my first suit for my final interview with Accenture!

So, I was looking at Oh Happy Day (it’s perfect!), and I saw this balloon-themed photo shoot for a kid’s birthday party. Isn’t it incredible? Click here for step-by-step instructions. Who says you can’t scale it for adults??

Then, I was inspired to search for more balloon themed festivities, and I came across Paiges of Style. It’s amazing.

Paige is an interior designer with impeccable taste. Her daughter had a hot air balloon-themed birthday. It seriously looked like the most perfect day ever! What a lucky little girl – she’s one talented momma.
