My Life-Changing Playlist

best christian playlist in oceans deep my faith will stand
I started going to church as a senior in high school because of my best friend from Scotland who was living with us at the time and my boyfriend (and his incredible mom). I became a Christian the summer going into my freshman year of college after reading Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore (naturally I really recommend it, but have Kleenex nearby). I was really, really into Christian novels at the time and went through over twenty of Karen Kingsbury’s books (amongst others). Although most of the reading was fictional, I was incredibly moved by the stories I was reading. I read less now, but recently finished Love Does by Bob Goff and seriously loved it to pieces – it’s an easy and moving read if you’re looking for something in that category.

Although I became a Christian going into college, my faith developed significantly during my time at The University of Texas, as I was attending an amazing church called The Austin Stone. The worship music was unbelievable. For my first few years, Chris Tomlin led the singing, and it was like being at a concert every Sunday (and the best one ever at that). I learned during my four years in Austin the impact that music can have on your soul. Singing worship songs did not end at church – my iTunes account is 90% Christian music, and I listen to it while I drive, work on the computer and workout. When I start to feel like nothing is going right, I’ll put on Lord I Need You. When I am needing a reminder that I’m loved, I’ll put on How He Loves Us. When my faith feels weak, I listen to Oceans. When I doubt God, I listen to Mighty to Save. When I want to dance around the kitchen with Isla, we jam to Marvelous Light or Like a Lion.

After an insane amount of thought and consideration (i.e. this started off with around 70 songs), I’ve created the 30 most life-changing Christian song playlist (according to moi). I had a great time making this, as I got to listen to all of the songs at one time. ‘Life-changing’ is a really bold statement, right? Well, it’s true. I am a completely different person than I was before 2006. These songs have had a huge impact on the person that I am today, so yes, ‘life-changing’ is right.

  1. Mighty to Save by Hillsong United (iTunes)
  2. Lord, I Need You by Chris Tomlin (iTunes)
  3. What Joy by Generation Church (iTunes)
  4. Desert Song by Hillsong United (iTunes)
  5. It Is Well With My Soul by Aaron Ivey (iTunes)

Celebrating Julie & Baby Kerr

On Saturday, I went to the cutest baby shower, honoring my friend Julie and her baby boy, Kerr, who is due in less than five weeks. There were a number of sweet hostesses, but the girl whose home we were at has the best interior design taste ever. I was seriously lusting at everything in their beautiful house!

All of the blue and red details of the shower were just perfect, as you’ll see in the photos below. There was a little adorable baby print with balloons on which guests wrote prayers for Kerr, which I loved! The guestbook was a baby book for people to sign, which was also a sweet touch. The invitations (by Haley Hardcastle Designs), cake and cookies all matched, and I loved the beautiful intricate design.

It was definitely a special party, and I cannot wait to meet Kerr. I’m going to be taking maternity photographs for Julie soon – I pray they turn out well! I’ve never taken any maternity pictures, but have been studying on Pinterest (naturally).

PS Y’all are seriously the best. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes yesterday! xo

Galentine’s Day

Last year, I participated in my very first ‘Galentine’s Day’ celebration. The hostess with the mostess, Christie of KiKiMac, had my friend, Danielle, and I over for a ‘crafternoon’ (see her post here and mine here). Last night, three other ladies and I went over to our sweet friend’s house for a night of ‘baking for our boys.’ It was seriously so much fun. I think all Valentine’s celebrations should happen with other females, as we get way more excited about the holiday than men do! But a romantic night with your man obviously cannot be replaced!

I brought over raw veggies and hummus, Chocolove bars, and some La Marca prosecco (our favorite), and the other ladies brought/made fruit, baked brie, red velvet cookies, vegan beet brownies, and sugar cookies which we spent the night decorating (this is not my calling in life, but it was a good laugh).

After cookie decorating, we moved to the craft table and made cards for our boys using all of the adorable supplies that Christina (of Christina Leigh Events) brought. I am seriously in love with her pink paper cutter! Mine is a terrible orange color, and I think I need an upgrade!

We had such a good night, and I am already looking forward to next year’s Galentine’s Day celebration. I’m convinced that all you need is delicious food, wine, baking and crafts… and of course, awesome friends.

Have you ever celebrated Valentine’s Day with your girl friends? If so, what did y’all do? Any recommendations for next year?

TGIF

Wow. What a week! Sasha was in Austin, which I’ll share now that it’s Friday and he’s returning (seems kind of creepy else wise). I have a serious respect for single moms or mothers whose husbands work out of town (yes, you, Alexis!). It is tough doing it solo, and fortunately, I don’t have to often. Tables will turn today, as I’m heading to Austin for a bachelorette party, leaving Sasha alone with Isla for the afternoon and night. He’s never had her for more than 3 hours alone, so it’ll be interesting! He’s the best dad, so he’ll be fine… but exhausted, I’m sure. I’ll be back on Saturday morning, as one of my best friends is having a wedding shower in Houston. Throw in a 1 and 2 year old boy birthday party at the zoo and then lingerie shower at night, and we’ve got ourselves two busy days ahead. So maybe TGIF should be more like – holymolyitsFriday. I’m excited about all of the wedding festivities though, so cannot complain at all!

In lieu of ‘Favorite Looks of the Week’ (laundry, dishes and packing took precedence), I’m sharing a few of my favorite links and outfits (sort of copying this from my good friend Mara at Hook, Thread & Tinker).

I hope y’all enjoy your weekend! xo

Creative Baby Shower Invitations

I’m always scouring the internet for creative stationery – whether it be for a relevant life event or not. A baby shower invitation can inspire a birth announcement. A wedding save-the-date can easily become a Christmas card. A first birthday invitation You get the drill.

So although I’m not throwing any baby showers in the near future, I have been collecting some of my favorite designs recently and want to share them. I’ve posted two other favorites in the past: Geometric baby shower invitations by Lauren Chism found here and baby boy bowtie invitation by Atheneum Creative here.

I absolutely love all seven of these designs. They’re all very unique and range from brewery to literary tea party themes. I might be lying if I didn’t say the prince and gold polka dots weren’t my two favorites. Which do you like the most? Have you seen other cute ones? If so, please share the link in the comments below!
