Little Decorative Details

I had another busy house-decorating-weekend filled with multiple trips to Target, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, West Elm and Anthroplogie. We had the Bluestone Console and Coffee Tables delivered on Saturday and bought chairs to go with the bench and Emmerson dining table that we ordered last week at West Elm. Lots of little decorative pieces were also purchased, and the new garage door was finally installed. The Manor will be completely finished on Wednesday, and we’re having a cleaning crew come in to scrub the place down on Thursday. I am so excited for all of the work to be done so that we can begin putting everything together. Almost there! Seems like ages ago that we were here.

PS Have you seen a Nest yet? It’s Sasha’s favorite little toy. Coolest thermostat ever.

Honeymoon Series: Croatia

Sasha and I love to travel, and I think we’ve put a lot of pressure on ourselves to pick the perfect honeymoon spot. We talk about it often, but have landed on nothing. Sasha is getting his MBA through the University of Texas at Austin weekend program, so we are limited for dates, but we’ll make it happen (just not immediately following the wedding in July).

I’m going to share some of the places as we explore them – the first being Croatia. We talked about doing a trip to Scotland (where I was born) to visit my family, then flying to Serbia to see his relatives (both his parents are from there), then doing a short flight to Dubrovnik, Croatia. We could take a cruise along the coast, or rent a car and do a coastal drive. I am literally entranced by the pictures of the Croatian water. I have probably looked at thousands of pictures of this gorgeous country, and I’m seriously obsessed.

Wedding Welcome Bags

I was recently flipping through Martha Stewart Wedding’s Destination Weddings magazine when I realized I don’t know what we’re going to put in the welcome bags in our guest’s hotel rooms. Granted, we have five months to decide, but I know the time will fly by, so I’m trying to make big decisions as early as possible. For inspiration, I scoured Etsy, asked friends who had recently gotten married for ideas, and racked my brain for Napa-inspired gifts. I created an assortment of ideas below – we definitely won’t put all of these treats in there, but hopefully our guests will love their hospitality bags anyway!

Bathroom Countertop Decor

I’m decorating one room at a time (in an attempt to stay sane!). I finally purchased the entryway and dining room furniture this weekend – which was exhausting as I ran between Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Anthropologie, West Elm, Z Gallerie, The Container Store, and IKEA (a nightmare). I decided to focus on the half and guest bathrooms (which look like this) first, so I purchased the following items (as inspired by Emily Schuman and Samantha Hutchinson). I still need to buy a cute little basket, but have lots of good coffee table books to use!bathroom_counter1) Glass Melon Knobs from Anthopologie, 2) Voluspa Japonica Mini Candle from Anthropologie, 3) Barr-Co Soap Bar from Anthropologie, 4) Provence Perfume Bottles from Anthropologie, 5) Square Lacquer Tray from West Elm

Big, Loose, Lovely Curls

Wedding_Inspiration_Pinboard_v2

As expressed here, I’m a pretty simple hair gal (which translates into: I cannot even braid my own hair!). In fact, while I have never made New Year resolutions in the past, I decided that this year, I would make it a point to be able to style me own hair – and with thanks to The Beauty Department (Lauren Conrad’s amazing team), I’m going to learn how to do this. I’ve been looking at different hair styles for the wedding day, but everything seems too frou-frou for me. I finally found a few pictures on Taylor Lord and Ryan Ray‘s wedding portfolios and love them. Loose curls, unique braids – nothing say summer Napa nuptials better!

PS The image is pulled from my wedding look book that I made… I’ll share piece by piece, but don’t want to ruin the big day! It’s a pretty massive document.
