Happiest Monday! Aren’t holiday weekends the best? Why aren’t all weekends three days? Doesn’t three and four seem more well-balanced for a week to weekend split? Anyways, I digress. Our best friends, the Behennas, headed back to Oklahoma today after spending a week here in Durango. This was their third trip, so we’re now in the “annual” territory. I cannot believe the first time they came, Lillian was only 6 weeks old, and Isla 10!

They arrived on Kirby’s birthday, so naturally I had to try to make a Funfetti recipe healthy, so we celebrated the best we could with dry, vegan, gluten free cupcakes. We got into a daily routine of walking down to the Fish Hatchery to feed the fish in the morning, then would go to the park, play outside, walk through town, etc. until lunchtime. Then nap time, and another activity in the evening. We went to the Rec Center to swim, Kirby and I escaped for ‘Mother’s Day Out’ spa treatments, we frequented many parks, ate at our favorite restaurants (Himalayan Kitchen, Carver’s, Grassburger – to name a few), had lots of Cream Bean Berry ice cream, roasted s’mores, played bean bag toss, waved as a zillion trains went by, browsed the goods at the Saturday Farmer’s Market, celebrated Isla’s third birthday (party photos here), and cheered Sasha on during his big mountain bike race (the Iron Horse Classic). In the evenings, we played games (Monikers and Butt Head were favorites!), drank wine by the fire pit, and had some deep belly laughs while catching up. Needless to say, we made amazing memories and I cannot wait until next year’s trip.

And to prove it, there are a zillion photos below (unfortunately not in any sort of chronological order)! Ha. Totally a shutterbug when these four kiddos are together.

Happy Wednesday! I’m a few days late for my ‘Week in Review’ post, but we’re on Durango time! Kirby, Brett, Lillian and Henry arrived around 2am this morning, and it’s Kirby’s 28th birthday, so we’ve had a busy day, roaming around town and celebrating with rather-dry gluten free vegan cupcakes that the kids really enjoyed! Ha.

The last week was very, very busy Monday and Tuesday, in preparation for us leaving on Wednesday. We’ve been in Durango since Wednesday evening, and it’s been dramatically less busy. My FitBit tracks my sleep, and it went from 3 hours, to 4.5 hours to 5 hours to 9 hours! So basically, I’m never leaving. A few highlights before we left on the trip were seeing my sweet friend Alexis and her adorable son, Zachary, for juice at Juiceland in the Heights, taking newborn photos (check out Mackenzie’s amazing hair and her gorgeous nursery!), watching Isla’s music presentation at school/celebrating her last day (tears!!!), and documenting Milly’s one month-iversary! Since being here, we’ve gone to the library, eaten at our favorite restaurants, fed the fish, gone on long runs, waved endlessly (multiple times a day) at the train, and enjoyed time as a family doing absolutely nothing. Totally in heaven.

I hope everyone is having the best week so far! I hear that the weather back home in Houston today was just perfect. I hope it stays that way.

Happiest, happiest Monday! The first Monday of my sweet niece’s life! Milly Rose Hetz was born last Wednesday, April 19 at 1:57pm, weighing 6 pounds 15 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. In summary: she is perfect (it’s totally normal to be emotional about this and start crying as I’m typing, right?). Ivana, Bob and Milly left the hospital on Saturday and are currently living with us, as their house renovations aren’t complete yet. It’s definitely a full house, but I absolutely love it and know we’ll laugh about the time four adults, two newborns and a toddler all lived under one roof!

The week was a busy one, with two big photo shoots (one with Meredith for a hair product and one with Meg Grant)! Trying to get through most of the editing before we head to San Antonio tomorrow. My little sister, Jill, was a huge blessing as I didn’t realize Isla had school off on Monday, so she tagged along to babysit – which basically meant back-to-back Moana! I also had lunch with two of my favorite gals, Amanda and Destiny (oh, and Isla and Emilia too!) at True Food Kitchen.

I went to my dear friend, Carter’s wedding shower on Saturday night, and we hung out with Kirby (Emi’s Godmother) and Lillian on Sunday! Sasha’s mom is back from Serbia, so it’s been great catching up with her too!

Time to get back to work! Hope y’all have the best week. I cannot wait to get to Austin on Friday to celebrate one of my best friend’s wedding! xo

Happiest Monday! We’re still here in Durango, but will leave in a few days. I don’t think we’re ready for the heat of Houston, but I’m missing our family and friends at home. We’ve got another trip to Colorado planned in early September (after a short visit to San Francisco!), so it won’t be long until we return.

Two of our closest friends, Brett and Kirby, drove from Oklahoma and got here early Tuesday morning with their two adorable kiddos – “Ohhhh Baby Henry” and Lillian (also referred to by Isla as “Livi” and “Olivia” for 90% of the their stay). We love them so much, and had such a fun week hiking, playing at the park, swimming at the rec center, going on long walks, playing Taboo, and eating lots of delicious food. The house feels so quiet and lonely now that they’re gone!

I snapped quite a few (ahem, a ton) of photos of the kids, so prepare yourself for lots of hugs ahead:

Hello from a very flooded Houston! Sasha was supposed to drive to Austin early this morning, but per the blaring weather alerts going off throughout the night, that wasn’t going to happen. The whole city was told to stay inside, so that is what we did! By 11am, I was already feeling cabin fever – I’m clearly not made to stay inside. Sasha has since headed out the door, and Isla and I have been doing our spring cleaning – part of our homework from Meggie Mangione of Organized Life Design. Meggie came for our second organization session yesterday, and we made so much progress in moving everything from the guest room into the playroom closet and drawers. I’m excited for our final meeting, during which we’ll wrap everything up. I will be sharing photos afterwards! I have been dreading this project for ages, but Meggie made it such a breeze!

Some other highlights from the week included:

  • Meeting and photographing gorgeous baby Townes’ at the hospital – he didn’t look like a new newborn at all! He’s a serious doll. I’m obsessed already!
  • Getting to spend time with two of our best friends, Kirby and Brett, meeting baby Henry for the first time (he was too good and slept most of the evening!!) and watching Isla and Lillian interact. We wish so badly that they lived in Houston!
  • Lots of blogger shoots – Destiny at her house with lunch and a playdate too! // Alex at our house for a little Mark & Graham engagement party + Coachella-inspired hangouts  // Molly and Lyndsey at The Menil // Esther at Summer Street Studios  // Megan at Highland Village
  • My sister-in-law pushed her flight to SFO back by a few days, so we got to spend some more quality time together – even introduced her to Door Dash and Adair Kitchen (where we went as a family of three on Friday!)
  • Doing an OrangeTheory class with Destiny and some other wonderful bloggers and then having lunch with our men and the kiddos after at Ruggles Green afterwards (we literally braved a storm!) – and running into Melissa and Mikey there was wonderful!
  • Going with Isla to her swim class – we double-dutied it, and she loved swimming back and forth and back and forth between the two of us! She’s a fish and loves the pool!
  • Photographing the spring/summer DEFINE shoot, styled by Meredith, hair and makeup by Brittany, creative direction from Cailyn and Candace and models including Chiara, Lauren and Chandra.
  • Interviewed interns and hired one – Hannah – whom I’ll introduce on the blog in two weeks when she starts! I’m excited to work with her (and have some help around here!).
  • Going to Bayou City Fellowship with Curtis preaching – always my favorite. We got to sit next to Sydney, who was there solo after Philip was suffering from a littttttle too much crawfish (surely that’s what was holding him back! ha!).

Hope you had a wonderful week. If you’re in Houston, stay dry!! xo
